This canvas print presents a 1875 Impressionist yacht scene by Berthe Morisot, with a dark hull, intricate rigging, a nearby boat, and pale green water. The harbor view balances nautical structure with a fleeting impression of light and movement

“The Front of a Yacht (L'avant D'un Yacht)”, catches a harbor in the act of becoming weather, motion, and memory. A near-black hull anchors the view while a small ocher boat bobs below, and pale green water loosens into reflections that seem unwilling to sit still. Above them, masts, spars, and ropes crisscross the open air like an engineer's diagram interrupted by a gust. This canvas print retains the scene's exhilarating tension between solid nautical machinery and marks that feel quick enough to have outrun the breeze.

Berthe Morisot painted this 1875 scene during the audacious early years of Impressionism, just after she had joined the group's landmark first exhibition. She was no visitor at the movement's edge, but one of its sharpest experimenters, turning ordinary modern leisure into an exercise in speed and perception. On the canvas print, the rigging almost becomes abstract geometry: triangles multiply, lines escape the frame, and the yacht appears to be assembling itself before our eyes. The effect is both observant and mischievous, as if the harbor master had surrendered his ruler to the wind.
