“Floral Motif for the Fouquet Boutique” unfurls like a garden trained to obey an architect. Three sun-bright blossoms anchor the design, while buds and elastic stems climb through a soft field of blush, mint, and cream. Heavy black contours give every petal the crisp authority of stained glass, yet the asymmetrical sweep keeps the whole arrangement lively. The canvas print preserves that delightful tension between botanical observation and ornament: these flowers seem equally ready for a meadow, a jewel box, or a particularly glamorous gate.

Alphonse Mucha created the motif for the Paris boutique associated with jeweler Georges Fouquet during the first quarter of the twentieth century, when Art Nouveau was enthusiastically turning shops into total works of art. Mucha’s plants rarely behave like shy background greenery; they curl, frame, advertise, and practically audition for architectural roles. Here, the broad arc at right resembles both a trellis and an enormous petal, making the composition feel like a fragment of a larger enchanted storefront. This canvas print lets the design retain its workshop-like immediacy, including the contrast between colored blooms and monochrome floral studies.
